Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Mile

Race 9 on the exciting Friday card of Juveniles is the Fillies Turf Mile. An astonishing 16 horses are lined up to field the gates for this Grade 1 event. Both Wesley Ward and Aidan O'Brien have multiple entrants here, but it was Ward's late switch for Campanelle to the mile instead of the sprint that caught my attention the most. I had Campenelle as my top pick in the sprint as she is 3 for 3 at the shorter distances, so it was very interesting to see the switch. I still think Im going to use her in this race but will be cautious.

Looking at the Gulfstream Park race I would this Campanelle will set just off the pace or press given who dictates the pace from the start. Should be no issues in pace set up and should get a favored trip.

The horse has the shipping issue down and doesn't worry me shipping in. Ward had this horse at Keeneland in early October getting in works and getting used to Turf course.

A daughter out of First Samurai (Giants Causeway) has been a proven winner at the distance, and has ran in Grade 2 company. I can see her sitting mid pack with enough late speed to mount a rally and catch the leaders who look to be Aunt Pearl or possibly Campanelle. Hard to go against a Christoph Clement and Rosario combo on the Turf as well.

A Daughter of Munnings (Speightstown) showed exemplar speed last out posting a 90 speed figure, but finished 2nd as she rallied late. Viewing the race replay seems to be able to get this distance here, but it will be determined on the pace and 15 other horses how she handles traffic late. She gets Johnny V back aboard and Motion is no stranger to the winner circle in the BC Juvenile Turf.

A Daughter of Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro) comes into this race as an undefeated 2 year old in a unique position. She comes in without a Grade Stakes race under her belt, but has beat out similar competition. Seems to always rally late in her races I've reviewed and seems to be able to rally at any point. Speed shouldn't be an issue for her and the trainer/jockey combo have decent numbers.
