Breeders Cup News V.1

As we are 4 weeks away from the Breeders Cup at Keeneland on November 6-7. Let's take a look into the latest news in the Horse Racing world and where connections are beginning to put their horse to which races. Also I give my short list for Top 5 of Breeders Cup Classic Contenders.

War of Will aimed at Breeders Cup Dirt Mile

War of Will ran in 3 straight turf races and now will switch surfaces to the mile dirt in the Big Ass Fans Breeders Cup Dirt Mile. Last Year WoW was one of the best on dirt, capturing the Preakness Stakes, but fell off toward the end of his campaign that year. He would wrap up the season finishing a dismal 9th in the Breeders Cup Classic in 2019. "It would be nice—he's already a grade 1 winner on the turf this year—to win another grade 1 on the

dirt," Casse said. "This will probably be his last start I would say before he retires to stud." War of Will, an earner of more than $1.8 million, will stand at Claiborne Farm in 2021. Claiborne purchased an interest in him this summer from owner Gary Barber.

Shedaresthedevil

The Daredevil filly, owned by Flurry Racing Stables, Qatar Racing Ltd. and Big Aut Farms, won the Kentucky Oaks on Sept. 4 and finished third in the Grade 1 Spinster at Keeneland on Sunday. She had been expected to run in the Breeder's Cup Distaff. It has been a big year for Shedaresthedevil, with four wins in seven starts and earnings of $1,185,320 for the year.

Arklow

Another Brad Cox Trainee, The 6-year-old son of Arch won the Kentucky Turf Cup (G3) last out on Sept. 12 and is headed to the Breeders’ Cup Turf, according to Cox.

Valiance to the Breeders Cup with a Win in the Spinster

As listed above Valiance was able to run down Shedaresthedeveil in the Spinster Stakes and held off Ollies Candy to earn her a spot in the Breeders Cup Distaff. Final time for the race was 1:49.76 over a fast track. Ollie's Candy took second, 2 ½  lengths in front of Shedaresthedevil in third.

Swiss Skydiver

Connections are happy with her win the Preakness Stakes, but are thinking about aiming her towards the Breeders Cup Distaff. If she runs in the Distaff she could easily be 2nd choice behind Monomoy Girl. With the Classic its hard telling where she would land on board with so many great colts in the race as well. Wherever she lands for the Breeders Cup I don't think you can count this filly out.
