Updated: Sep 24, 2020

Thursday at Gulfstream Sole Volante and Ete Indien battled out in an Allowance race as a set up for the Belmont Stakes. Sole Volante woul have trouble coming out of the gate and be last for most of the race, while counterpart Ete Indien went to the lead and set a sharp opening half mile in :45.10. In the final 3/8s of a mile Sole Volante was still out of the picture but finally swung out and kicked in at the 8th pole. Carrying enough speed and the leaders running out of gas Sole Volante blazed by with ease an go to the wire first. Ete Indien would struggle to hold on to any of the top spots and finished 4th. Connections for Sole Volante more than likely will head to the shortened field of the Belmont Stakes a try to compete with probable favorite Tiz the Law.

In other Derby news and unfortunate news is Maxfield and definite contender is now off the derby trail with a Condylar Fracture, the same injury sidelining Nadal another possible favorite for the Kentucky Derby. Coming off his most recent victory Maxfield was one of the undefeated 3 year olds aimed at the derby. In regards to his injury hes already had the surgery and is standing. This is Maxfield's second injury his previous being a right ankle chip which scratched him out of the Breeders Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita.
